Can Maybe be the Answer?

So many of us are bothered when we can’t know the answer the minute we have a problem.  We walk around worried about how all of our life’s problems will resolve and we believe that if we had all these answers today our lives would be better. Yet life is always filled with unanswered questions. Even when we find out one answer about a particular situation there are ten more behind it.

So how do we get rid of the fear and discomfort of not knowing the answer to every question? For me, the discomfort is greatly eased when I allow Maybe into my life. With Maybe I acknowledge that my problem can unfold many ways and I don’t need to sit in a negative projection that things will work out bad when they could also work out good.  My mind is able to rest in a neutral place with hope for a positive resolution.

But what also happens when I hang out in the open space of Maybe is that not knowing becomes a field full of possibilities, and new ideas and perspectives come to me. Often when I believe I “know,” the creative process stops and I am merely acting based on knowledge accumulated from my past experiences. But what if I want my life to keep moving in different, new and exciting ways? In that case, I can’t keep responding to life the same way. Maybe works so well because it allows me to comfortably hang out with “not knowing” and use it as a platform to create new opportunities.  Maybe is a constant reminder that there is hope and possibility for my life even if I can’t see it in the moment.

So today, if you have an unanswered question that is really bothering you, instead of believing it is standing in the way of your success and happiness, take a step back. Take a breath and think “Maybe.” Maybe not knowing is okay.  Maybe it is the beginning of a new journey or just part of the process to finding the answer.

Without worrying about what you don’t know, Maybe you can fully open up to life as life fully opens up to you.

Just Maybe.
